The XJS is one of the most famous sports cars Jaguar ever produced. It is to the 70s and 80s what the E type was to the 60s – the car to be seen in!
It first arrived in 1976 and was soon appearing on TV in The New Avengers and Return of the Saint. The huge V12 engine and controversial styling made it instantly recognisable on the roads and it became a big sales success. The car went through several re-vamps – including a convertible and a range of more fuel efficient engines. The XJS managed 21 years of production but the reputation of this cracking car is now in the doldrums because it’s a gas guzzler from another age.
Our solution? Dump the V12 and go for the 3.6 which is great fun, fast and not so heavy on the black stuff.
