SUPERVISORS

Meet Gary Peterson: ROV Supervisor

With close to a decade of experience working with ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) , Gary Peterson has spent the last six years at Odyssey Marine Exploration and can build just about anything, often at sea, using whatever materials he finds to hand.

When not aboard the Odyssey Explorer, Gary lives on a houseboat in Seattle, in the US, that he constructed himself. He also converted a landing craft into a workshop so that he can build special tools for Odyssey's deep-ocean work while ashore.

Gary's hobbies include boating, riding his 750 Norton and spending time with his dog, Finster. Gary's brother, Eric, also works aboard the Odyssey Explorer as an ROV supervisor, but they're not usually on the ship at the same time.

Meet Ewan Bason: ROV Supervisor

Ewan Bason joined Odyssey Marine Exploration five years ago as a trainee ROV pilot and has since worked his way up to ROV supervisor. Ewan studied oceanography and underwater studies at Plymouth University, where he also trained as a commercial diver.

For six years, he traveled the world working as a diver. A daredevil at heart, Ewan enjoys skiing, scuba diving and auto racing. He lives near Plymouth, south-west England.

Meet Eric Peterson: ROV Supervisor

The polar opposite of his brother, Eric Peterson is an electronics whiz and built the new control system for the CLIO Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).

Extremely intense, Eric will work endlessly on a problem until it is solved. He can write software or construct hardware to conquer almost any electronic challenge. He has been with Odyssey Marine Exploration for six years and has nearly a decade of experience working on ROVs.

Eric lives in Clearwater, Florida in the US, with his wife, Ohood, and dog, Buddy. During his time off, he enjoys designing underwater equipment in his home shop.

Meet Terry Snyder: Senior Survey Supervisor

Terry Snyder hates to let bad weather cut his survey efforts short. He's been caught a few times with a very rough ride into port after working too long with a storm approaching — earning him the nickname 'Typhoon Terry'.

A retired Navy chief, Terry has spent 36 years working with side-scan sonar and navigation systems, including 10 years with US Navy Explosive Ordinance Disposal. He has worked exclusively with Odyssey Marine Exploration since the discovery of the SS Republic in 2003.

Terry has worked on many high-profile projects, including the Titanic with Tom Dettweiler.

He also participated in the Space Shuttle Challenger recovery; the discovery and recovery of a B-25 aircraft, which was placed in the Smithsonian Institution, as well as the SS Republic and the 'Black Swan' projects.

Married for 42 years, Terry and his wife, Carol, have two daughters and two grandchildren. Terry lives in a golf community and plays at least five times per week when he is home.

Meet Dan Adams: Survey Supervisor

Dan Adams has worked with Odyssey Marine Exploration for five years. He spent 10 years in the construction business, before pursuing his dream of becoming a commercial diver.

At Marine Diving Technology in Santa Barbara, Dan studied sonar, ROVs, SAT diving, surface supply and underwater welding. He also received EMT training.

Throughout his career, Dan has worked in the Gulf of Mexico as a diver and ROV supervisor. Dan loves skiing, wine tasting and fast cars. Dan Adams grew up in Stanberry, US, and now resides in Kansas City, US, surrounded by family and friends.
