The hard essence of a professional Roman soldier. Honourable and severe, he is unforgiving and pitiless when crossed. A dour and pragmatic man, with a tendency towards self-laceration. As a soldier he struggles to balance his personal beliefs, his duty to his superiors, and the needs of his family and friends. Lucius is an educated man and is of high rank within his legion. When Julius Caesar begins his Gallic Wars, Lucius is forced to leave his family to serve in the 13th Legion (Legio XIII Gemina) and does not see his wife and daughters again for another eight years.

About Kevin McKidd
McKidd was born and spent his childhood in Elgin, Moray, Scotland. His first professional role was in the television series Father Ted; he played Father Deegan in the 1996 episode "A Christmassy Ted". Additional work followed including his portrayal of Tommy in Trainspotting, his role in the Silence of the Lambs prequel Hannibal Rising and in the autumn of 2007, he began playing the lead character in the American science-fiction television series Journeyman.
