Discovery Realtime Overhaulin'

Overhaulin' Series 5

 (DCL)

Chip Foose and his crack A-Team get to work on more decrepit cars in need of some major Overhaulin’.

This time round most of the vehicles in question speak of emotional bonds, between fathers and sons, fathers and daughters and between brothers.

And behind the rust and flat batteries are stories of tragedy and loss which the rebuilding of the cars will perhaps go some way to repairing.

Matt’s renovation of his 1965 Mustang Coupe was put on hold because of his brother’s lung cancer, so, with his brother’s help, the team move in to finish the job.

Harrison’s father was killed when he was knocked off his bike by a drunk driver and they never had the chance to finish their Chevy Nova restoration – Chip and the gang step in to make the car a tribute to dad.

EPISODE GUIDE:

Episode 1: Brushtang
Brothers Matt and Sticky are part of a close-knit family. When Sticky was diagnosed with lung cancer, Matt offered to take care of him at his home.

In order to provide his brother with both a place to live, and a place to work, Matt's prized 1965 Mustang Coupe was tossed out of its prime indoor garage spot, and parked on the street. Plans for restoring the Mustang were put on hold while Matt helped his brother fight cancer.

As a gesture of love and gratitude, Sticky contacted the Overhaulin' team. Master designer Chip Foose set to work creating another instant classic. In the end, the car becomes a symbol of the very essence of brotherly love, and another example of an Overhaulin' miracle made possible by the hard work of Chip and the A-Team.

Matt's plans for restoring his prized 1965 Mustang Coupe were sidelined when his sick brother moved in, but with the help of Chip and the A-Team the classic gets a second chance to shine.

Herb purchased the three-quarter tonne truck in 1971 for family vacations, and used it for fishing trips in later years with George. But the truck has become more than a truck - it's a family heirloom.

Herb died in April of 2006, and while George took physical possession of the truck, to him, spiritually, it will always be Herb's. George's wife Kathy thought the truck should be restored to its former glory by none other than the Overhaulin' team, headed by designer Chip Foose, in memory of Herb.

George is the proud owner of a Chevrolet pick up truck passed down to him by his beloved father-in-law Herb. To honour his memory, George's wife Kathy thought the truck should be restored to its former glory by none other than the Overhaulin' team.
