NASA 50th Anniversary Beyond Orbit

Beyond Orbit

NASA's Voyager 1 probe is the most distant man-made object in history. Astonishingly still operational after 30 years, it is now over 9.5 billion miles away from the Sun.

NASA has always had similarly ambitious goals for its other projects, taking man and machine beyond the safety of our home planet and exploring the unknown.

Apollo

As much as a political goal as anything else, none the less, the Apollo program was a milestone in history - safely landing a man on a different celestial body.

Probes

NASA has sent exploratory probes to every planet in the solar system, learning more about their conditions, and occasionally uncovering some surprises.

The Lunar Colony

Years after leaving the Moon behind, NASA is planning to return and build a permanent manned colony.

Manned Mission to Mars

Following the establishment of a successful colony on the Moon, NASA plans to send crews to Mars.
