Born in Indiana, Jamie worked for many years in the Caribbean as a diver and boat captain. After getting a degree in Russian, stints as a wilderness survival expert, animal wrangler and chef, he moved to San Francisco. He has his own studio, called M5 Industries, where he still works with toy prototypes and robotics projects. It is also the set for the majority of the experiments on the show. With his beret, immaculate white shirt and thick moustache, Jamie is quite a character, and 'the voice of reason' when working with Adam.
Married to a science teacher, Jamie ensures every experiment seen on the show is educational. Adam and Jamie apply rigorous scientific standards, calculating, measuring velocity and power, and projecting measurements. Although sometimes it’s entertaining to see them failing to prove or disprove a myth, they will always find a way of scientifically solving a problem.
Like Adam, Jamie also worked in special effects for sagas such as The Matrix and Star Wars episodes I and II. In the advertising field, his effects and prototypes can be seen in commercials for brands such as Nike and 7UP.
Jamie has created many prototypes, some of which can be seen on the show, although the majority end up being used for something completely different from what they were designed to do!
