Charles Manson (Corbis)

Episode 3: Green River Killer

Investigators hunt for clues that will help them capture a killer believed to be responsible for the deaths of over 48 women in Washington State. The killer picks prostitutes because he thinks he can kill as many of them as he wants without getting caught. He chokes them to death.

After his capture Gary Ridgway, the so-called Green River Killer, confesses to all of the murders, saying "Choking is what I did and I was pretty good at it.

Episode 4: Nightstalker

This episode follows investigators as they examine the crimes of serial killer Richard Ramirez. In the early eighties he struck both old and young, though the brutality he showed towards his female victims was especially horrific.

He became known as the Night Stalker because he would only strike during the midnight hours, entering homes through open windows or doors and escaping of California's freeways.

During the summer heat wave of 1985, Los Angeles residents kept their windows locked and lived in fear until his killing spree finally ended. On August 30, 1985, months after his first known murders, he was finally apprehended.

Convicted of 14 murders in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas, Ramirez still haunts the memories of those who lived through his reign of terror.

Episode 5: Hillside Strangler

From October 1977 to February 1978, ten young women were found dead in and around Los Angeles. Dubbed the ‘Hillside Strangler’, the killer remained at large for a year after the last of his victims was discovered.

As this episode of Deranged Killers details, when the Strangler was finally caught, ‘he’ turned out to be ‘they’; security guard Kenneth Bianchi and his cousin, Angelo Buono. Investigators relive every step in the case, from the discovery of the first victim to the 2002 death of one of the killers in jail.

At every stage of the story, we'll hear from insiders and experts, including investigators who worked the case and people who knew the killers.
