IndonesiaBear Grylls faces more challenges during his second week in the Pacific Ring of Fire, getting dropped into petrified swamps devastated by the 2004 tsunami and having to navigate his way out. He faces waterfalls and sheer cliffs and is forced to sleep in a tree to avoid the gruelling conditions caused by tropical storms.
NamibiaBear Grylls demonstrates survival techniques in one of the hottest, emptiest and driest places on Earth - Namibia. With lethal temperatures and not a drop of fresh water on the coast, Bear pushes himself to the limit as he navigates extremely treacherous conditions and encounters deadly snakes in his quest for nourishment.
ZambiaBear Grylls ventures into the landlocked country of Zambia in southern Africa. Flash floods bring 12-foot waves and vicious currents straight into Bear’s path and crocodiles, hippos and a herd of elephants are just a few of the dangers that lurk in the area as he attempts to survive some of the world’s biggest rapids.
LouisianaBear Grylls tackles the deadly swamps of the deep south devastated by Hurricane Katrina. He discovers how easy it is to get lost in the maze of rotten vegetation and stinking water and gets deep into the murk – home to two million alligators – trying to avoid being attacked. He grapples venomous snakes, hunts giant rodents and shelters from violent storms.
Siberia (part 1)Bear Grylls parachutes into the Siberian wilderness, one of the coldest and harshest places on the planet. He has to deal with extreme cold as the temperature drops to –40 degrees fahrenheit, and shelters in a cave where he snacks on hibernating mosquito larvae. To speed himself up, Bear makes a toboggan from a deer skin. In one of his most extreme experiences, he swims under the ice of a frozen lake to show just how dangerous it is if you fall through the ice.
Siberia (part 2)In the second episode Bear is in the treacherous Sanyan mountains in Siberia. He leaps from his helicopter into a snow cornice where his survival journey begins. Tackling extreme cold and difficult terrain he meets the Tuvans, a group of yak herders who have lived here for the last 20,000 years. Using local techniques, he catches and eats a squirrel, before having to cross a partially frozen river by swimming naked through the icy water.
AlaskaBear Grylls has travelled the Artic and climbed Everest. Deliberately putting himself in the position of a stranded skier, He uses his specialist survival skills and knowledge to journey across Alaska and shows us how to survive extreme mountain slopes, glaciers tunnels, bear infested forests and treacherous ice floes in a small boat.
MexicoBear Grylls shows how to survive in Mexico's Copper Canyon. For shelter he uses ancient cave dwellings and makes a fire with a traditional 'fire saw', uses his tried and tested techniques for finding scorpions or grubs and fishes without a rod or line. He even eats special mud that could be the difference between life and death.
SaharaParachuting into the Sahara, one of the hottest place on earth, Bear uses his skills and adopts little-known techniques used by indigenous tribes to survive. From urinating on his t-shirt to keep cool to eating a camel spider, a deadly scorpion and raw goat's testicles, Bear demonstrates how to avoid dehydration, hunger and heat-stroke.
PanamaBear Grylls tackles the deadly mangroves of Panama as he parachutes into crocodile and shark infested water in the first of this two part programme. Using vines, he drops into the Camino Reale viper pits where he will face one of his biggest fears in the pitch black cavern.
PatagoniaThis time, Bear parachutes onto a treacherous ice field in Southern Patagonia – one of the largest expanses of ice in the world. He demonstrates the survival techniques needed to withstand avalanches and hangs in the jaws of an ice crevasse. To escape a snowstorm, Bear takes shelter for the night in a snow cave, before paragliding spectacularly from the mountain range into the beech forest below.
