A survival suit may be the difference between life and death in the Bearing Sea Think you could be skipper?

" Last year's Greenhorn Kevin Davis is back for king crab season. Having learned from his bitter experience last January, the crew and captain agree he's got the makings of a good fisherman."
" Kevin is doing good. I mean he is 24, young, but he's come along great. I really hope one day to train him through the engine room, that maybe by the time he is 30 he can take this boat over, and I can divide the way most of the time."
" Kevin's first season was almost his last, when he fell overboard on a cold winter's night. Wearing only his rain slicker, Kevin was defenseless against the deadly Bering Sea. If he hadn't been rescued immediately, he would have died of hypothermia or drowning possibly in as little as 4 minutes."
" Look at the hands."
" It's so cold."
" Temperature is dropping."
" For those who are fortunate enough to get a warning, a mere 90 seconds can save their life. That's how long it should take to put on a survival suit."
" [unk]"
" It's a coast guard requirement to have 1 survival suit per crew man, and this is 1 rule that no one cares to break."
" [unk]"
" Captain Gary Edwards of the Big Valley demonstrates its features."
" and you will lay it down on deck and get in it just as you would a sleeping bag. It's got a flotation device around the waist. It blows up manually. You just push on this plunger with your mouth and you can blow it up, and then it holds there inside the vest. It's got a whistle for signaling and it looks like it has a little safety mirror in here too. That's an added attraction."
" Before setting out to sea, each captain makes sure his crew knows how to put on their survival suits."
" Alright, go."
" They are made of a 10-millimetre thick neoprene shell that fully encapsulates the body."
" Anybody that can get in to a suit in less than a minute is probably gonna be just fine."
" It keeps you warm and floating."
" You're dead."
" It's on my zipper."
" It's not the zipper's fault."
" Fine, if you know [unk]."
" Pretty fine."
" Astonishing! Astonishing!"
" Breath."
" One man who owes his life to a survival suit is Captain Hansen of the Alaskan Monarch."
" Now, we have been fishing for several days, dodging around the ice. There was about a 2-mile band of ice in front of the processor, but oh I didn't give it much thought because it was loose and we'd been in and out of the ice quite a few days."
" Until an iceberg sheared off the ship's rudder leaving her unable to stir."
" The crippled Alaskan Monarch was on a collision course with the rocky coast. They sent out a mayday."
" We're not grounded yet. This is the chief engineer. We are not grounded yet, but we are real close."
" A coast guard helicopter hoisted the crew off the boat. Then the captain and chief engineer abandoned the wheelhouse and made their way to the boat."
" Hold on."
" Then the worst case scenario happened."
" Hold on! Oh no! [unk] water."
" Oh my God!"
" Captain Hansen and his first engineer were lunged off the deck by a rogue wave. Hansen had only his survival suit to keep him afloat. With luck and skill, the coast guard was able to pluck them both from the sea. The survival suits allowed them to live to tell the tale."
" When I lost the boat, it was a great loss especially watching it grind to its death. It's not easy to take."
" Captain Hansen escaped with his life, but 2 out of every 3 years during crab season at least 1 sailor is not so lucky."
