Discovery has always been on the frontline of delivering visions of times and worlds we can never see.
And in 2006, our first ever feature-length drama looked at a man who could see other times: Nostradumus. His advocates claim he predicted everything from famine to wars, natural disasters to 9/11, The Great Fire of London to Dancing on Ice. Or perhaps not. But the controversy that still surrounds him made for a dark and gripping film. Just what is the truth about this remarkable man?
- Nostradumus was a busy writer. He also published books on cosmetics, perfumes and fruit preserves. His recipe for jam is particularly good.
- …But not great for the sweet-toothed… which is probably why Nostradamus could foresee dental decay, so also made a small fortune selling a rose-based tablet that he claimed reversed tooth rot.
- Even during his lifetime he was controversial. Just as in our film, Nostradamus was arrested – for not getting permission to publish his almanac.
