The X Files, a potent combination of drama, thrills, and plenty of science fiction, revolutionised television in the 1990s. Created by Chris Carter, the series benefited from the bristling chemistry between the main characters, two FBI agents investigating strange cases loaded with paranormal phenomena. The agents, Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny), joined forces to redefine the laws of nature as we know them. David Duchovny left the series in 2000, though he later returned for special appearances. He was replaced by Robert Patrick, who was famous for his performance as the T-1000 robot from Terminator 2, Judgment Day (1991), as FBI agent John Doggett, a man who did not believe in extraterrestrials.

Secret laboratories, clones, killer bees, ghosts, a conspiracy between the Government and extraterrestrials - everything was possible in The X Files. The series made it to the big screen in 1998 after dominating TV viewing schedules for years. In The X Files movie, Mulder and Scully have been assigned new responsibilities since the FBI’s closing down of the Paranormal Investigations Department. Their new assignment consists of locating a bomb in a building, resulting in the discovery of an alien conspiracy.
