A phrase Adam loves to repeat is: “I refuse your reality and substitute it with mine”.
Before dedicating himself to mythbusting, Adam was an animator, graphic designer, interior designer, set designer and an expert in animatronics or computerised robots. But if you were to ask him, he will say that all his life he has been a builder, and that is the role he loves the most.
At five years old, Adam was already building his own toys, the predecessors of the more elaborate ones he builds now with Jamie. His sculptures have been exhibited in at least 40 galleries in San Francisco. He says that when sculpting, he gets his inspiration from the treasures you can find in old attics. He adds that he uses a large variety of materials to work with: aluminium, styrofoam, resins, plastic, neon, hydraulics, glass, and robotics. He brings these skills to the show and uses them in his special effects.
In the last decade Adam has specialised in the complex world of sci-fi and FX. He has participated in over 100 television commercials and 12 films, including Terminator 3, Galaxy Quest, The Matrix and Star Wars: Episode I and II. In just seven weeks, Adam built an acrylic tow truck cut by lasers for a First National Bank commercial, which was broadcast during the popular football finals, the Super Bowl. For Burger King, he recreated a foot from the Statue of Liberty built on a base of paper and aluminium. Spaceships are a firm favourite and in just four days he built a miniature scale model replica of the Mars Viking Lander for an IBM commercial.
