Getting started

Caring for your bike

The first step in bike care is to clean your machine regularly. This prevents corrosion and means you take a good look at things often enough to spot problems.

Every few weeks, take some time to do some basic checks. These should include engine oil, electrics (lights and horn), tyre pressures (when cold), tyre tread, drive chain, coolant level, brake fluid level and engine stop switch. Also take a careful look for any fluid leaks such as fuel, brake fluid, oil or coolant. Take the vehicle off the stand and check the operation of both brakes.
