Construction of the Ngong Ping 360

Ngong Ping 360

The Ngong Ping 360 project will provide Hong Kong with one of the worlds most impressive tourism experiences. Set to open in early 2006, the project will allow visitors to experience an amazing, 360 degree panoramic vista of Hong Kong and more specifically the Lantau North Country Park.

The ‘cable car’ will be managed by ‘Skyrail-ITM’ whose Australian parent company not only built, but operates the famous Skyrail Rainforest Cableway in Cairns, Australia. While travelling the 5.7 km cableway, visitors to the attraction will be able to sit in cars of 10 (with room for another seven standing) as they pass each of the eight towers which hold the cable sky-high.

Emphasis has also been placed on the design and its integration with the surrounding environment, making sure that it complements the area while at the same time blending into the natural locale.

All in all, the Ngong Ping 360 project will be an astonishing advance in both technology and transport history.
