Duets:

Marvin’s image as Mr. Lover Man suited duets and during his time at Motown his partners included Mary Wells and Kim Weston.

In 1967, Motown teamed Marvin with Tammi Terrell and the writing team Ashford and Simpson and struck gold. Together they had a string of hits, including Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (1967), Your Precious Love (1967), and You’re All I Need to Get By (1968). But during a 1967 concert, Tammi collapsed in Marvin’s arms. It was the first sign of a brain tumour. When she died in 1970, Marvin was so devastated he spent most of the year in seclusion.
