The two most important things you can do for your skin are protect it from the sun and stop smoking. However, there are other measures you can take to help delay the ageing process.
Minimise stress
Stress produces free radicals in the body which inhibit cell repair and accelerate ageing. While you may not have much control over stress-causing factors in your life, finding ways of relieving your stress will help. Sport, yoga, meditation and even a hot bath will all help minimise your stress levels.
Sleep
Get as much sleep as possible, it is your body's necessary 'maintenance' time to repair muscles and replace and repair cells. Different people can function on different amounts of sleep but research has shown that 7-8 hours a night is the minimum you should aim for.
Water
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water to keep cells plump and healthy. Factors such as alcohol, air conditioning and central heating will all cause dehydration so make sure to drink plenty of water in the office and during the day.
