Arrivals and Departures

Although it's tradition for the bride to be a little late on her wedding day, make sure it's not because you haven't arranged the transportation well ahead of time - there is a traditional transportation etiquette to help save any arguments on the day.

To the ceremony

  • The bridesmaids and the bride's mother travel to the church first
  • The best man arrives at the church with the bridegroom
  • The bride arrives with her father

    After the ceremony
  • The bride and bridegroom leave first for the reception
  • They are followed by the bridesmaids and then the best man
  • Then the groom's father with the bride's mother, followed by the bride's father with the groom's mother
  • The family and guests in the front pews should leave first followed by those seated from the front to the back of the church
