And Just When you Thought it Was All Over!

Enlisting the help of friends and family takes the pressure off you and your partner whilst on honeymoon. When you return there will also be simple, but important jobs which need to be carried out, such as rewriting a will and changing your name.

Whilst on Honeymoon

  • Ask someone to be responsible for your wedding outfits and to take your presents and store them for you
  • If you provided disposable cameras, arrange for someone to collect them at the end of the day and have them processed
  • Ask someone to return any hired or borrowed items
  • Arrange for wedding cake to be sent to people who did not attend the wedding
  • If you want to have your bouquet dried, pressed or framed, this should be done as soon as possible after the wedding day so that the flowers are in good condition

    Post Honeymoon

  • If you're planning on keeping your dress, it's a good idea to have it professionally cleaned and boxed for storage
  • Make a new will as marriage invalidates any previous arrangements
  • Send details of change of name/circumstances to bank, building society, employers, tax office, pension company, credit card company, insurance company, passport office, DVLC, doctor, dentist etc.
  • Send out final thank you letters for gifts
  • When you return from honeymoon, you should make an appointment to visit your photographer to collect your preview album or 'proofs'
  • If your venue made you pay a damage waiver, this should be returned to you after the wedding (obviously providing you left everything in one piece!)
