Interview with Vic Reeves
Besides the obvious problem of being hanged what do you think were the downsides of being a rogue? The endless search for new hiding places.
“A dishonest or unprincipled person” is the dictionary definition but how would you describe a rogue? A rotten, stinking, horrible fart face.
Do you think you would have been a rogue if you had been born a few hundred years earlier? Not on your Nelly.
If you could live the life of one of the rogues from the gallery for a week which one would you choose? Blackbeard.
Were you surprised about how much of what we think of as history is actually made up years after the fact? No, that’s what history is all about.
Why do you think we go all misty eyed and romantic about men who were rather shady if not downright nasty characters? The romance of being naughty.
You looked very gallant riding a horse in Rogues Gallery. Did you have to learn especially for the programme or were you already an accomplished horseman? I am a highly qualified highwayman I think.
Is there a rogue from history that the series didn’t cover that think deserves a mention? Charlie Peace (check him out)
Bearing in mind libel laws, are there any modern rogues? None whatsoever.
What’s the most roguish thing you’ve ever done? Murder, arson, bank robberies, treason and grand larceny......
