Twenty-two year old Allen once saw a friend nearly die whilst rock climbing, so training to be a steeplejack is an enormous challenge.

Allen’s had a few jobs: in a warehouse, a supermarket, care work, telesales – but he can’t settle on anything and his explosive temper is really holding him back. His terrible behaviour led to him being sent to a ‘bad lads’ school’ where he achieved only one GCSE and, although he enrolled in a computer-engineering course, he failed. Allen’s been in trouble with the law: first the police had to be called when a fight with his brother escalated, then he was charged with common assault for beating up a friend for constantly using his scooter horn.

He now claims to have his anger under control by using a number of techniques that help him calm down before he comes to blows. Hopefully, good hard labour will help him deal with his pent-up aggression.
