After the Third Step, the route is windy and filled with steep snowfields. The Summit Ridge is short and narrow with huge drop-offs.

The Tibetan name for Mount Everest is Chomolungma or Qomolangma, which means "Mother of the Universe" or "Goddess Mother of the Earth". The summit is the highest and mightiest peak in the world. It is the only place where one can view the awesome splendour of the earth. The first documented person to successfully climb to the summit of Mount Everest was the late Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand (1919-2008) and his Sherpa Tenzing Norgay of Nepal. They reached the summit on May 29th 1953.
