Anthropologist

During an investigation where a crime dates back years or even decades, forensic anthropologists are brought in for analysis of skeletal remains. Their expertise can often be vital in building a biological profile of a victim. Details like age, sex, race, height and weight can help bring about a positive identification, but not before an initial examination to see if the remains are actually human.

If there’s a suspicion of foul play, the forensic anthropologist will asses the bones for evidence of violence or trauma. For example, signs of stab wounds and scared or broken bones. Often anthropologist investigators will be called in to visit the site where the remains have been found and help exhume the body.
