A myth can be described as many things: a legend, a fairy story or folklore.
They are traditional tales, often with a symbolic nature, about a certain person or place. Their origins are often lost in the mists of time and the myth may have evolved and altered with passing generations.
They are sometimes about gods and goddesses, as in Greek and Roman mythology, and sometimes concern legendry figures woven into the fabric of a nation’s history.
Myths are traditional. They can be comforting or contain a moral message and sometimes they are frightening. Myths may have evolved from a real event, place or person or could be complete fabrications.
