Freemasons

There is much more to the Freemasons than just funny handshakes. It operates worldwide, with members drawn from all walks of society, many in positions of power.

It is thought this rather secretive organisation grew out of the medieval guild of stonemasons. To join you must be recommended by a Freemason and once accepted you mustn’t reveal the identities of other Masons or any of the rituals.

Conspiracy theorists believe that the Freemasons are linked to the New World Order, especially as members refer to themselves as ‘Illuminated’. Others have even accused the group of being an occult organisation.

Rumours like these probably arose because of the secretive nature of the society, but in reality most Mason are respected members of the community who donate a lot of time and money to charitable causes.
