Abraham Lincoln was shot by Confederate sympathiser, John Wilkes Booth, at the Ford Theatre on 14 April 1865. He died from his wounds the next morning.
Was Lincoln the victim of the Tecumseh’s Curse? Legend has it that presidents elected every 20 years will die while in office. Lincoln was allegedly the second victim.
The president who is said to have brought on the curse is William Harding Harrison. He died in 1841 after referring to a battle, in which he defeated Native American Chief Tecumseh, during his election campaign the year before.
Other Presidents who are said to have been hit by the curse are James Garfield, William McKinley and John F Kennedy.
